Solar Impulse’s Social Media Pixie

On April 26, 2013 we met Elâ Borschberg, social media pixie for Solar Impulse, during an event swissnex San Francisco organized for all graduates of Swiss universities in the Bay Area.  

About Solar Impulse

Launched in 2003, it completed the world’s first solar 26-hour day and night flight in 2010. In 2011 Solar Impulse flew to Brussels (Belgium) and Paris (France) and in 2012, the HB-SIA prototype completed the first intercontinental flight connecting Europe to Africa. This year Solar Impulse will be attempting the celebrated coast-to-coast flight of the United States, West to East.

Social Media & Solar Impulse

A graduate of the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, Elâ has the incredible task of engaging a truly global audience as Solar Impulse flies around the world. At times, the plane’s test flights can last over 8hrs and Elâ’s task is to share on social media where’s the plane is at, what’s the pilot up to, and answering questions during that entire flight time!

Meet Elâ and don’t forget to follow Solar Impulse as it flies across America starting on May 3, 2013. Please note that the start date is subject to weather conditions.

Where did you go to university?
I graduated from Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne with a major in marketing.

Most challenging aspect of your job?
Being able to follow and anticipate the need of a project which has last minute events like flight missions!

What tool do you use to monitor social media?
Still looking for the perfect tool but I am using Hootsuite to update our accounts.
